What happens if someone dies without an Estate Plan?

Passing without an Estate Plan, known as intestacy, invokes state laws to determine both the administrator and the inheritance distribution. While laws vary, the general order prioritises the surviving spouse, followed by surviving children or their offspring, parents, siblings or their offspring, grandparents, and then aunts, uncles, and extended family.
