How can I locate the Taxpayer Identification Number for my Trust?

Your Trust is set up as a “Grantor Trust,” meaning it's disregarded for tax purposes. Assets held in a Grantor Trust are treated as if the Trust creator still owns them for tax reporting. Thus, the Taxpayer Identification Number for the Trust is usually the social security number of the Trust creator. For joint Trusts, either spouse’s social security number can be used. It's recommended to maintain consistency in using the same number.
